In grades 3 through 5, students begin to explore their interests more deeply and develop a stronger sense of identity as learners. Specialty departments—such as art, music, physical education, technology, and world languages—play a vital role in this stage of growth. Targeted programs like English Language Learner (ELL) support ensure that multilingual students build strong language skills while accessing grade-level content. Equally essential are the contributions of the school nurse, who supports students’ physical and emotional well-being, and the library media specialist, who cultivates a love of reading and teaches essential research and media literacy skills.
